My Town Wednesday: Stuff in my yard

Roses

“My Town Monday” is the brainchild of Travis Erwin at One Word, One Rung, One Day. The goal is to introduce one's blog readers to what’s special about the place where one lives.

Because this is a busy week, instead of writing a blog post, I'll share some photos of roses in my yard with you.

Roses grew well in humid New Orleans, so I expected to have a hard time with them in the Southern California desert. Instead, here in Riverside roses grow even better than in New Orleans, as long as one remembers to water them. (Yes, I did lose a few rose plants at first.)

Because the Santa Ana winds blew away most of my plant tags and because the yard already had several rose bushes, I only know the identities of a few of these roses. If anyone can identify any others, please let me know what they are.

Great shots. Love the colors. I'll save this and post the link with next week's group.

I can't help you, unfortunately, but I can almost smell them from here. So lovely!

Lovely!

I believe that last is a Westerland (we have one). Is it a climber w/a nice scent?

Gorgeous blooms! I'm afraid I can't help you with the names either. We have no problem keeping other flowers and plants alive in our backyard, but roses...sigh. The poor little guys never have a chance.

Congratulations to the winner of Jade's contest!

Your roses are beautiful! I love the label, Anonymous Roses. It sounds like the title of a poem.

CHARLES, I didn't care for orange roses before, but this bush won me over. It's almost luminescent.

TRAVIS, thanks for linking me.

CARLEEN, you may be right. That rose is about 10 feet tall.

LANA, MICHELE, STEVE, , and RAE ANN, glad you enjoyed the pictures.

Beautiful photos, thanks for sharing them! I wish my roses had looked half as nice, but this year wasn't their best.

BARBARA, LYZZYDEE,PATTINASE, and MARY, I guess I'm outnumbered. My favorite rose is the pink Souvenir de la Malmaison, which I'm always taking pictures of. Glad you enjoyed the pictures.

VIRGINIA LADY, here's hoping next year you'll have a bumper crop of beautiful roses.

TRAVIS, no problem. I see Nevada isn't colored in yet on your MTM map. I'll be going to Vegas in December and maybe I can do a post on something there for you.

Thank you, DAVID. Actually, I don't have such a good eye. I just take lots of pictures (so that I'm almost certain to get lucky with one or two) and I'm not afraid to crop.
