I am again eligible this year for the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer. If you are eligible to nominate works and people for the Hugo, you are eligible to nominate people for the Campbell Award. My name (and associated page) is up at Writertopia's "Profile of Shauna Roberts". I would greatly appreciate your vote at the bottom of the Hugo ballot.
I became eligible for the Campbell Award when my novella "The Hunt" was reprinted in Jim Baen's Universe in 2010. "The Hunt" is now available again, this time as an e-book. I have put it up exclusively at Amazon.com for three months at http://www.amazon.com/dp/B006WEVR7I. After Amazon's exclusive is over, I intend to post it at SmashWords and Barnes & Noble as well.
Look for news about more e-books coming soon!

I am eligible this year and next for the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer. If you are eligible to vote for a Hugo, you are eligible to nominate people and vote for finalists for the Campbell Award. My name (and associated page) is up at Writertopia's "Profile of Shauna Roberts" yet, but it should be soon. I would greatly appreciate your vote if you believe I am among the best of the eligible new writers.
Also, if you are an SFWA member, please consider nominating "The Hunt" for the Nebula in the novelette category. "The Hunt" appeared in the February 2010 issue of Jim Baen's Universe. You can read the story in the SFWA Member Fiction area of the SFWA discussion forum here.

My novella "The Hunt" received a nice mention on page 15 of the April 2010 LOCUS:
“Baen’s Universe ends its four-year run with its April issue. The last couple of issues did feature some nice work. From February I [Rich Horton] really enjoyed Shauna Roberts’s 'The Hunt', [sic] at first blush a romp about some teenaged members of a space traveling merchant culture (like Anderson’s Kith, perhaps) playing a scavenger hunt in port. But Roberts looks deeper, at the local people whose lives are disrupted by teens’ thoughtlessness, and at the apprentice 'Transmuter,' a member of a sort of private justice guild, whose latest assignment intersects with the mini-crime spree the spaceship kids have created. It all wraps up with a nice twist. It’s in many ways a familiar story, but fun.”
