Thank you for your wishes, CARLEEN, LISA, BERNITA, THERESE, SIDNEY, and SPHINX INK.

We got back from Ohio a little after midnight this morning, and I picked up a very happy Dulcinea (our cat) from the vet's after the office opened.

It was wonderful to be with my family. Over 200 people came to the viewing for my father, and some had to wait in line 45 minutes to get in. A couple men had been in first grade with my father! I had dreaded the viewing, but after seeing how many people who knew him or knew my brothers came by to honor him, I felt comforted and honored to be his daughter.

After a week of staying constantly occupied with travel arrangements and funeral-related events, I now start the hard part: real life without my father. I very much appreciate everyone who took the time to stop by and leave a note of support. It means a lot, particularly since we recently moved and I know few people here.

Shauna, I just read your announcement, these comments, and your update. I'm so grateful that you found such solace among those who know and love your father (and you!) so well. I hope it also helps that many who've only met you via the blogosphere are thinking about you, too. Hugs from Denver, Karen

Shauna, My thoughts are with you, I know this is a bit late, but good wishes and prayers after a loss can never go on long enough.

I lost both my mom and dad, both on Hospice; and I was a Hospice Nurse at the time my father was dying, and also the primary caretaker. He was so peaceful and had died with dignity.

May your healing continue, and your family too.

Shauna
